What’s Coming Up At Raystede
Local charity Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare has been going for sixty years, rescuing, rehoming and providing sanctuary for over 1,500 animals each year. The centre is located near Ringmer and is free to visit almost every day of the year. The 43 acre site has state of the art facilities for all sorts of animals from birds to small animals, dogs and cats to goats and horses. A further defining feature of Raystede now much copied was the first ever animal crematorium – ‘Peaceways’ which opened in 1964.
At Raystede, an important element is the educational service, used by schools in East Sussex and beyond- encouraging people to be aware of the needs of animals and their right to respect. Guidance to all ages on caring for animals is also provided.
Raystede is always seeking more help and support for their work, and there are many possibilities for sponsorship of animals and donations. The centre also receives support in kind from people offering their time as volunteers and fundraisers. This July and October there are events in support of the centre. The Motor Show is taking place on the 12th July and intends to be “A great day out for car lovers, with classic and unusual cars and bikes to be seen.” On October 4th, on World Animal Day there is the opportunity to “Walk The Dome” in the heart of London.
