Will Valentine’s Day Bring ‘Furry-Tail’ Ending For Dogs Trust Pawsome Pooches?

Dogs Trust Shoreham are hoping that Valentine’s Day will bring with it loving new owners for four dogs eagerly awaiting a new family at their rehoming centre.

Three-year-old German Shepherd Kelly has spent roughly half her life in kennels, and her childhood as a stray. She made her way into Dogs Trust’s care as a one-year-old and was rehomed, but due to her adopters change of circumstances she was then returned. Her special someone will be an experienced owner who can match her activity levels and who has the time and interest to support her with some positive, reward-based training.

Kelly is uncomfortable around other dogs and will need to wear her muzzle when out in public. She would like to be walked in quieter areas so she can avoid bumping into other dogs and it would be lovely if her new owners would consider hiring a secure field for her to have an enjoyable, stress-free run about. Kelly will need to be the only pet at home and it is essential that she has a secure garden. She can share her home with teenagers over the age of 16.

Six-year-old Lurcher Alice has a lot of love to give, and is bouncy, cheeky, and lots of fun to be around – but is finding kennel-life a bit overwhelming. She has a few training needs and so will need dedicated owners who can offer her lots of their time. Her perfect home would be living with adults and no other pets, with a high-fenced, private garden.

Shep is a smart chap who loves to participate in fun training which keeps his mind stimulated. He can be worried around strangers but taking the time to get to know him will be a rewarding experience – he’s a very endearing boy who has stolen the hearts of his carers!

He does have his worries about the world around him so is hoping to find understanding owners who could support him in developing some self-confidence. This loveable ladies’ man is looking for a predominantly female, adult-only household as he can be particularly wary of men. He will need to be the only pet at home, have access to quiet walks and a garden of his own.

Dogs Trust Shoreham Manager Tracey Rae said: “These wonderful dogs would love a new home for Valentine’s Day. Kelly is a very smart dog who enjoys using her brain and keeping active. Alice is an active girl, with a very smart brain who enjoys company and affection and Shep is very sweet and sensitive and will make a loyal and loving companion. If you have space in your heart to give one of our dogs a loving new home, we’d love to hear from you.
