Sussexdown’s Easter Celebration
On the 28th March, staff and residents at Care South’s Sussexdown care home in Storrington and the Friends of Sussexdown invited their friends, families and the local community into the home to join them for their Easter coffee morning. Friends of Sussexdown committee volunteers ran an Easter Egg hunt for younger visitors in the home’s extensive grounds, who had a lovely time searching high and low in the gardens for chocolate eggs. There was also a delicious spread of homemade cakes, with plenty of tea and coffee.
Nick Herbert, MP for Arundel and South Downs, dropped by to join in the fun and the home also welcomed cadets from Shoreham Air Training Corps. Sally Williams, Chairman of the Friends of Sussexdown, said: “We were delighted to see so many people at our Easter coffee morning. All funds raised will now go towards the home’s Residents’ Amenity Fund, allowing the home to run a programme of interesting and stimulating activities for Sussexdown residents.”
Heather Rogers, Home Manager at Care South’s Sussexdown care home, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to the Friends of Sussexdown for organising such a wonderful event. Our Easter coffee morning is always great fun thanks to all their hard work. At Care South it’s important to us that we are holding events that help our residents stay involved in the local Storrington community and this is a lovely example of that.”
The Sussexdown Easter coffee morning is organised by the Friends of Sussexdown Committee, who raise money to provide entertainment for residents, including live music, day trips out, and Christmas and birthday presents for the residents of Sussexdown. The committee includes members of the Shoreham branch of the Royal Air Forces Association.
