Shakespeare Under The Stars
Come and play your part in Shakespeare Under The Stars…
One of the largest events during Horsham District Year of Culture will be a new production of Shakespeare’s wonderful comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream which will take place open-air at Knepp Castle in June.
This professional production, directed by Martin Hutson will also feature a number of local amateur actors who will perform alongside a professional company of nine.
All participants need to be 18+
Auditions will be held in February and March to find a group of five or six men and five or six women to play stags and hens together with four additional actors to play some of the group of Mechanicals. Two separate auditions will be held, one for those people who would prefer an acting role and one for those who would prefer a movement/dancing role. You can apply for both. Rehearsals will as much as possible take place outside the usual 9 – 5 working week, so as to enable those people who are working to take part.
Martin says ”We’re looking for enthusiastic local actors to complement our professional cast. I’m very excited to see what local talent there is in the Horsham area and finding out what skills people can bring to what I believe will be an exciting production for everyone to be a part of. A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed in the open-air, mid-summer at a country estate will be a unique experience for all concerned and we want to thrill audiences in Horsham District and beyond with a new interpretation of this classic play.”
In order to express your interest in auditioning, please complete an application form, available from firstname.lastname@example.org and send it back by Monday February 18th, 2019.
