Rex Stands Down, And Then Steps Up Again

Rex Cooper, who retired as chairman of Lindfield Dramatic Club after 18 years, has been named as the club’s new President.

Rex stood down as Chairman in March 2019 at the club’s AGM. Then his successor Ron Skinner announced the new appointment and joined with club members in thanking his predecessor for his important contribution – as Chairman and Director – whilst in office.

Eighteen of the club’s last twenty-two major productions have been directed by Rex during his time as Chairman of what is believed to be the oldest amateur theatre group in West Sussex. A framed list of the productions was presented to him.

Rex becomes the latest in only a very small handful of Presidents since the club was founded in 1936 as a youth theatrical group by John Gordon Ash.

*Lindfield Dramatic Club’s spring production will be a comedy double bill – Curses Foiled Again, by Evelyn Hood, and Poor Yorick, by Phil Mansell, at the King Edward Hall on Friday May 24th (8pm) and Saturday May 25th (2.30pm and 8pm).
