This Half Term… It’s Quentin Blake At Nymans

Leap into a fantasy world with a new exhibition of work from legendary illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake, at Nymans, the National Trust house and garden in Handcross.

Opening on this week on Saturday 26 October the exhibition will feature illustrations from Quentin Blake’s books and Art in Hospitals work. The exhibition is a reminder of the power of the imagination and how joy can be found in the unlikeliest of places.

There’s also a chance to find out more about how Quentin draws, with a recreation of his studio and an opportunity to practise your own drawing technique.

And because it’s half term there’s special pumpkin themed fun in the garden with a pop-up pumpkin patch where children can join in with pumpkin themed activities and games.  Call into the Potting Shed each afternoon where between 1.30pm and 4.30pm there’s the opportunity to make pumpkin inspired lanterns.

Out in the garden hunt for pumpkins on a fun family trail where you’ll be taking on seasonal challenges while looking out for pumpkins with funny faces dotted all around the garden. Mark off as many as you can on your trail sheet to claim a prize at the end.

On Tuesday 29 & Wednesday 30 October have a go at besom broom making with help of the woodland rangers using silver birch harvested from the woodland between 12pm & 3pm. Other activities on offer are den building in the garden and geocaching in the adjoining woodland.

Exhibition opens 10am Saturday 26 October. For details of all events and activities please visit Nymans website
