Moorcroft Racehorse Charity Races Towards Their Biggest Fundraiser In The Calendar

Moorcroft Racehorse Welfare Centre are looking ahead to their 18th annual charity raceday at Plumpton Racecourse on Monday 23rd October 2017.

The charity is gifted ex-racehorses by their owners and once assessed as to which other role these horses would be suited, are retrained accordingly. They are ultimately re-homed to suitable loan homes and are regularly visited by Moorcroft throughout the rest of their lives.

Moorcroft is largely dependent upon fundraising events, the most important of which is the Plumpton raceday. Over the last five years this most enjoyable day has raised almost £300,000. Harriet Brown, Marketing Executive at Plumpton Racecourse adds: “We are delighted to continue to support Moorcroft on this their annual charity raceday. The team and volunteers at their Centre do an amazing job with the retired racehorses to give them a life after racing. They need events like this together with the generosity of racing supporters and the public alike to continue to support so many former racehorses and ensure that they have the best possible chance of an assured future.”

Moorcroft will be hosting a charity lunch in the Plumpton Marquee on the raceday, with a three-course lunch, afternoon tea and live auction. The lunch attracts many names from the racing world, such as Simon Holt, Mike Cattermole, The Gifford Family, Nick Luck and Colin Brown.  Moorcroft guests and general admission racegoers will enjoy the always competitive and exciting Shetland Pony Race ahead of the 7 jump races which follow.

Other ways for racegoers to support the charity include bidding at the silent auction, purchasing items from the Moorcroft tack sale or kindly giving any spare change to the exit collection.

The ticket application for the charity lunch and information on general admission, can be found on Plumpton Racecourse’s website:
