Miniskirts And Revelations
ACE Theatre Company Presents ‘Miniskirts and Revelations’ by Margaret Graham
Following their popular and successful production of Lilies on the Land in 2018, ACE are performing a new play by a local award winning playwright in 2019.
The play is set in the 1960’s, and is a tale about a family of three generations living together under one roof where they run a guest house. It reflects the changing attitudes of the period, in fashion, expectations and morality, and how the different generations adapt to those changes and how it affects their relationships. Penny is the teenage daughter with ever-shortening hemlines, her brother, Mick, loves his motor bike and leathers. Mother misses her travelling salesman husband, and Grandma is a demon in the kitchen but hides a long held secret. Interspersed with music from the era (Elvis, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and many more), we witness the family’s amusing idiosyncrasies, their fortitude when coping with unexpected events and gradually Grandma’s secret is unravelled against the backdrop of the younger generation’s own daily dramas and concerns.
Come and relive the period, wear your miniskirts or flares and remember – “All you need is love”!
