Mid Sussex Breathed Easy During Breathe Easy Week

Mid Sussex Breathed Easy During Breathe Easy Week

From their awareness stand at the Martlets Shopping Centre in Burgess Hill on 22nd and 23rd June, Breathe Easy Mid Sussex blew pretty bubbles in the air, in celebration of the British Lung Foundation’s Breathe Easy Week (18th-24th June 2018) entitled “Love your Lungs.”  The bubbles brought smiles to all ages and Burgess Hill shoppers gave generously at the Tombola and donation boxes to further research into lung conditions. Every week over 10,000 people get a new diagnosis of a lung disease and the British Lung Foundation has been leading research into lung conditions for over 30 years, spending over £30m on research.

As a British Lung Foundation support group for those living with lung conditions, their families and carers, Breathe Easy Mid Sussex is always keen to welcome new members. The awareness stand provided locals and visitors with the opportunity to chat with member volunteers and the “Love your Lungs” theme enabled discussions and information to be provided on the benefits of: Pulmonary Rehabilitation (an exercise programme and information on how to look after your body and lungs – speak to your GP or nurse for further information); being active and exercising; looking after your mental health; eating a balanced diet to improve your symptoms; singing to help breathing, as well as the essential role of Breathe Easy support groups.

Breathe Easy Mid Sussex meets at 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on the last Thursday of every month (except for in August and January) at Millfield Suite, Cyprus Hall, Cyprus Road, Burgess Hill, RH15 8DX. Come along and meet new friends who understand what you are going through, discuss any anxieties you may have and learn how to manage your condition.
