HQ Of Fun At QLeisure
by Ruth Lawrence
Get in touch with your fun side and enjoy the adrenalin fuelled experiences QLeisure have to offer, from karting on the newly refurbished track to axe throwing. Ruth Lawrence went to find out more.
You’re hardworking, responsible, putting in the hours to keep body and soul together, but something’s missing… when did you and your family or colleagues last have proper, laugh out loud, adrenaline fuelled FUN!?
I visited Lloyd Peacock of the hugely successful family run QLeisure to find out why families and corporate clients are flocking to bond over fun filled days at their state of the art centre in Albourne. With seven activities in one place amid beautiful surroundings with stunning views of the South Downs, the centre also offers its clients an oak framed contemporary barn with a central fireplace and bar for meetings, presentations and relaxation.
The jewel in Q’s crown is the newly upgraded 800m karting track, promising frenetic and exhilarating competition where you can race up to 60 mph on one of the best tracks in the South. The track has recently been made wider and resurfaced with the highest grade of tarmac making the newly shaped bends much smoother to drive. Floodlights ensure you can race through to early evening and up to twenty karts can now use the track simultaneously. Sunday morning ‘Arrive and Drive’ sessions are ideal for families who want to compete as a team or pit their wits against each other while the Grand Prix karting, team endurance races, corporate and stag and hen group packages are for adults. Kids birthday parties and the Cadet Go Karting Championship are superb fun for youngsters to challenge one another and compete safely while experiencing the thrill of racing.
Other popular activities at QLeisure are the archery/axe throwing/assault rifle combinations which costs a very reasonable £54 for the 90 minute experience plus half hour briefing. Axe throwing is a great way to release your inner Viking and became popular after Game of Thrones hit our screens and the thrill of shooting a 22mm assault rifle and drawing the bow during the archery session make for an unforgettable and amiably competitive experience. Clay pigeon shooting, bubble football and archery tag (like paintballing but with arrows and no paint) make up the seven activities while the karting remains the most popular for its sheer thrill.
Karts range from the smaller 120cc Biz Cadet Kart for children from 8 years old to the rugged 270cc Sodi RT8 kart, French built to perfection and weather protected with very fast acceleration. The 200cc Biz Evo Kart model is perfect for adults and older kids. Races range from a 15 minute family session to the super exciting Grand Prix 45 minute race and huge smiles are guaranteed! With five star ratings on Trip Advisor, dozens of happy clients have raved about their days out with family, colleagues or friends; unforgettable memories that bond, build confidence and provide genuine physical thrills in a stunning, superbly appointed setting.
