Join Us At Hickstead For One Of The World’s Biggest Horse Shows
The Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Great Britain at the Longines Royal International Horse Show (23-28 July) is one of the oldest equestrian events in the world, as well as one of the biggest outdoor horse shows in the country.
Hickstead is one of the highlights of the British social calendar. Her Majesty The Queen is the official show patron, giving the show its Royal prefix. It’s a great place for celebrity spotting too – British Horse Society president Martin Clunes usually attends the show, and other celebrities to visit in recent years include model Jodie Kidd, Davina McCall, Richard Hammond, Jennifer Saunders, Matt LeBlanc and TV news anchor Alastair Stewart.
Ladies’ Day on the Saturday offers some amazing prizes for Hickstead’s best dressed guests, with luxury spa breaks and gourmet meals on offer from some of West Sussex’s best hotels. Dress to impress, and you might be invited into the Longines International Arena for the final judging.
With more than 200 stands in the Charles Owen Shopping Village, there is plenty to tempt visitors away from the thrilling equestrian action. As well as stands selling equestrian tack and clothing, you can browse some of the country’s leading country fashion brands or check out the fabulous range of footwear, gifts and homeware on offer.
Children are in for a treat too, whether they’re pony mad or not. Visit the recently-introduced Family Zone to enjoy the funfair or join in with the fun and games with Tomfoolery, including hobby horse jump-offs, magic shows and more. For the older children, there is the new “Hickstead Hoedown”, offering Wild West-themed crazy golf, a climbing wall and laser clay shooting.
For foodies, Hickstead has plenty to tantalise and tempt your tasetbuds. Explore some of the local delicacies in our Food and Drink Market, selling delicious street food, or bring your own picnic and find the perfect ringside spot to enjoy the glorious British countryside. For a truly glamorous day, choose one of the Hospitality options, from the Members’ Restaurant overlooking the Longines International Arena to Private Boxes, offering the perfect way to spend the day with family and friends.
For equestrian fans, you can enjoy everything from the skill and power of international showjumpers clearing vast fences, the precision of top class show horses and ponies putting in foot-perfect performances, and the speed and exhilaration of the scurry drivers and event riders galloping around Hickstead’s famous turf.
Showjumping highlights include the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Great Britain, a historic team competition that takes place on the Friday afternoon and gives fans their only chance to watch the British team compete on home turf. The event draws to a close with the Longines BHS King George V Gold Cup, a challenging Grand Prix, while other feature classes include the Science Supplements BHS Queen Elizabeth II Cup and the MS Amlin Eventers’ Challenge. These historic classes attract the very best riders in the world, and there’s no better place than Hickstead for getting up close to these equestrian superstars.
