Disco Inferno Party Raises Glittering £9,000 For St Barnabas House

The Brattle family from Goring-by-Sea are celebrating after their fourth annual ‘Big Get Together’ party raises enough money to pay for a whole day of all care services provided by St Barnabas House.

Husband and wife, Steve and Debbie Brattle, hosted the Disco Inferno themed garden party on Saturday 10th August in memory of loved ones who were supported by the hospice.

Both Debbie’s father, Spencer Rayment, and sister, Dawn Madell, sadly passed away from lung cancer in 2015 and the family also suffered the loss of their good friend Charlotte Henley-Collins in 2018, aged just 43. All three were cared for by St Barnabas House who Debbie says, “provided them and our family members with the essential care and support we needed during some very difficult times.”

Over 150 guests were treated to a night of classic 70’s disco music and a host of entertainment including a spectacular auction which featured signed Arsenal and Real Madrid football shirts as well as a pair of boots from local Southampton star, Harrison Reed.

Cocktails were served from a bar in the garden with drinks thoughtfully named after loved ones, including the ‘Dawnstar martini’ and ‘Spencer Tracey’.

Steve said: “This year was our best event yet, despite the wind. Every year gets bigger and better. I can’t put into words how important St Barnabas House is to myself, Debbie and all our family. “St Barnabas were there for us in a time of need so we will be there for them going forward. We feel honoured to be able to give back to the hospice. This year we again
broke a record with almost £9,000 raised and look forward to another record breaker next August with the theme being Country and Western. Yeeehaaaaa!”

Jo Bacon, Community Fundraising Officer at St Barnabas House, said: “We are delighted that the Brattle family have continued to fundraise for the hospice through their amazing Big Get Together events. Their generosity and commitment is so admirable and we feel privileged to have their wonderful support. They have now raised almost £22,000 for St Barnabas House which is just incredible.”
