Dementia Friendly Film Screenings At The Capitol
The Capitol, Horsham are delighted to announce they are launching a new initiative this month for people living with dementia and their friends/carers and these films will form a part of their regular film programme.
The films will be shown in a relaxed environment with the lights up and sound low with no trailers, a comfort break if appropriate and the freedom to move around the cinema as required. The film ticket price will include a cup of tea or coffee after the screening and customers will be encouraged to socialise with others who have seen the film. Trained Staff at The Capitol will be on hand to provide a little extra support if required. CEA Card Holders are offered a complimentary ticket for a Carer – please ask our Box Office for more information or visit ceacard.co.uk ahead of your visit.
The first film to be shown will be Stan and Ollie (PG) a true story of Hollywood’s greatest comedy double act, Laurel and Hardy on Friday 18th January at 11am.
It is planned to offer a Dementia Friendly screening once a month and there will be a mix of current release films and classic titles for customers to enjoy.
Nick Mowat, General Manager at The Capitol said “We have received some very positive comments from local organisations and groups who have links with people living with Dementia and we are looking forward to welcoming some new customers. This new service will complement our other community film screenings which include Box Office Babies, for parents/carers with new-born babies and under 3’s and our Blue Oasis Film Club screenings for people on the autistic spectrum and their friends.”
Tickets for these Dementia Friendly screenings can be booked in advance online at www.thecapitolhorsham.com or by calling their Box Office on 01403 750220
