Dara O'Briain, Voice Of Reason

Dara O’Briain, Voice Of Reason

Congress Theatre – Thursday 28 March 2019, 8pm

A handful of tickets remain for Dara O’Briain Voice of Reason tour which comes to the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne Thursday 28th March so booking now is strongly advised as it’s likely that these tickets won’t be available for long!

Dara is one of the most recognisable faces on British TV as host of the hugely successful Mock The Week and numerous other shows including Star Gazing Live, Robot Wars and The Apprentice You’re Fired but stand-up is his passion as he finds live comedy addictive.

It’s been 4 years since Dara took to the Congress stage and he says: “When you arrive at an empty theatre, the potential is immense. You think, ‘This is going to be magical’. Then, when the show starts and you hear those waves of laughter in the auditorium, it’s just so enjoyable. It’s a huge rush.”

In this show Dara draws on the ordinariness of his daily life, “If there’s a theme to the show, it’s that at the age of 47 I have an incredibly normal life.” He will be mulling over the rise of the Nerd. The comic notes that “Nerds have become much cooler recently. Thanks to the internet, they can find each other now. It’s very positive.”

The internet features heavily in his routine with special reference to a fake news website which Dara has become a subject on. Dara explains “I go into the madness of this story about these things that are supposed to have happened to me. The producers of this fake news site have filled in some details so some effort has been made in producing it, but it’s still so ludicrous. This site featured headlines like ‘She Has Discovered The Secret That Dentists Don’t Want You To Know’ and ‘20 Stars Whose Lives Have Been Ravaged By Drugs’ with a picture of Chris O’Dowd beside a picture of Shane McGowan.”

  • Dara O’Briain, arguably the most charismatic, intelligent and fast-talking comics of his generation brings Voice of Reason to the Congress Theatre on Thursday 28 March 8pm.
  • Age recommendation 14+ years as this show includes swearing and adult content.
