The Czech National Symphony Orchestra returns to the Hawth Thursday 28 November 7.30pm.

Celebrating its 20th birthday this year, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra is considered one of Europe’s top symphonic ensembles. The concert features Schubert’s Symphony no.8 The Unfinished, Grieg’s Piano Concerto, Strauss’ Tales from Vienna Woods and Dvořák’s  Symphony no.9 ‘From The New World’

Together with the renowned conductor Petr Altrichter, the orchestra will open their performance at The Hawth with one of Schubert’s most enchanting orchestral works; and will then be joined by the exciting pianist Noriko Ogawa for Grieg’s ever-popular Piano Concerto.

Since achieving her first great success at Leeds International Piano Competition, Noriko Ogawa has worked with leading orchestras and conductors, such as Dutoit, Vanska, Slatkin and Otaka. Ogawa is also renowned as a recitalist and chamber musician, performing with artists such as Evelyn Glennie. In 2001 Ogawa established a piano duo with Kathryn Stott. Ogawa regularly commissions new works and has performed premieres of works by Fujikura and Kanno.
