Participants in the wreath making sessions will learn the traditional moss-based method to create a festive wreath complete with evergreen foliage, berries, dried fruits, pinecones, and gorgeous festive accessories.

The chocolate workshops allow youngsters the chance to decorate their own Christmas shapes, and adults can try their hand at truffle making – both taking their creations home to enjoy (additional charges apply).

Visitors can simply drop in at the chocolate workshops and cake decorating demonstrations however booking is advised for the wreath making masterclass at

Continuing the crafty theme, the Winter Fair also features a variety of stalls from independent artisan traders from across the South. Visitors can peruse a selection of handmade, quality gifts to kick off their Christmas shopping, including mouth-watering gin liqueurs, homemade jams, gourmet chutneys, cheeses and chocolate wine, as well as handmade wooden toys, artwork, jewellery, lovingly produced leather and cashmere fashion, natural soap stunning home accessories, Christmas decorations and much more.

Iain Nicol, CEO of the South of England Agricultural Society, said: “As a Society we pride ourselves on supporting independent traders and traditional local craft workers, so we are delighted to be offering these two new workshops, and the cake decorating demonstrations, at this year’s Winter Fair – I hope everyone that takes part is thrilled with their creations. Going back to basics and appreciating homemade crafts as opposed to mass-produced high-street items has become of real importance to so many people now and it is wonderful to see. After all, the Society is a charity that also supports traditional craft skills, such as our Young Artisan of the Year competition, so every ticket sold really does make a difference.”

“It’s not just about the shopping and workshops though. The Winter Fair provides the perfect day out to keep the whole family entertained. Featuring a variety of feel-good Christmassy entertainment and activities, families are sure to enjoy the giant snow globe that they can step inside to capture the perfect Christmas-card-worthy family picture. There are also the thrilling delights of the traditional carousel, meet and greets with the Ice Queen and her elf, and of course the opportunity to meet the big man himself inside Santa’s grotto.”
