Chairman Supports Local Swimathon

Horsham District Council Chairman Cllr Peter Burgess attended the Horsham Lions Club Annual Swimathon on Sunday 17th March at the Pavilions in the Park Leisure Centre.

Cllr Burgess commented: “Teams came from all over Horsham District and had to swim a length of the Pavilion’s pool of 25 metres. This was done in a relay, each member doing one length in turn and then repeating for the allotted time of 55 minutes, so no mean feat.”

The event was in aid of the charity The Jigsaw Trust which helps children and adults with autism. It was a record breaker with 40 teams competing and 4320 lengths completed in total.

Some £14,377 was raised for the charity.

Over the last seven years the annual event has raised over £50,000.

Cllr Burgess also attended Heron Way School in Horsham to present Junior Neighbourhood Watch certificates to Year 5 and 6 students on Monday 18th March.
