Bodiam Castle Hosts The British Wildlife Photography Awards 2019 Exhibition

A Celebration of British Wildlife

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the British Wildlife Photography Awards and Bodiam Castle is proud to be one of the first venues on the national tour of the 2019 winners.

The exhibition will showcase stunning photographs of British wildlife, celebrating the work of both amateur and professional photographers and their ability to capture the beauty and diversity of the nature on our doorstep.

Bodiam Castle will be hosting this year’s exhibition within its medieval walls. With spiral staircases, battlements and surrounding moat, the exhibition will be showcased in a unique setting. The Castle is set in the heart of an historic landscape and offers stunning views from the top of the towers. The castle grounds and estate are home to a variety of wildlife and nature within its wetlands, wooded areas, veteran trees, and grasslands. Bodiam Castle has one of the most important bat roosts in the south east of England. In 2013, the earliest ever births of wild baby bats in the UK was recorded.

General Manager, Karen Stafford, commented ‘We are delighted to be hosting the British Wildlife Awards exhibition at Bodiam Castle and are looking forward to showcasing this year’s entries and winning photographs. Bodiam Castle and it’s grounds offer a perfect backdrop to this stunning exhibition and we are hoping our visitors will be suitably inspired’.

The BWPA is a yearly competition, which has been running since 2009. Its aims are to recognise the talent of photographers in the UK, celebrate British wildlife in all its beauty and raise awareness of the different species that surround us. One hundred winning images will be chosen from thousands of entries and are separated into fifteen separate categories, including a category for film and two junior categories to encourage young people to connect with nature through photography.
