Augustinian Care Inaugural Alzheimer’s Memory Walk Raise Over £5,400
Augustinian Care who run three Care Homes and the Retirement Village at St George’s Park, Ditchling Common held their first Memory Walk in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society on Saturday 7th September.
The walk route started and finished in the gardens of one of the homes, St Clare’s, and went through the beautiful grounds of the 250 acre estate. Over three hundred Care Home residents, family, friends, staff, members of the public and village residents took part in the 2 or 4 kilometre walks raising an amazing £5,400.
The CEO of Augustinian Care said “We are delighted with the turn out, it is great to see so many of our staff and residents walking in the grounds. We are thrilled to have raised such a large amount for what is a cause close to our hearts” He went on to explain that “the idea came from some of the staff and Sisters who have previously taken part in a Memory walk in Brighton, they thought it would be very relevant for us to hold our own walk. We have such fantastic grounds that it made perfect sense to let people appreciate them whilst supporting a great cause. We will definitely being having our second walk next year.”
Walkers were treated to music from local band Shenanigans and then a Zumba warm up before they set off on the walk.
